What I learned from NTFM blogging

Before I ever had the module New Technologies for Marketers I must admit that I had never previously blogged or even knew what blogging entailed. It was only when I begin blogging as part of my NTFM module that I realized how complex blogging can be as their is much more to it then just simply expressing your opinion. You must also share videos you find relevant and share certain widgets on your page such as your Facebook or Twitter accounts. Blogging on WordPress is much different to other social media accounts that I am currently using as it is a lot more formal way of expressing ones opinion.

I am delighted now in hindsight that I have been educated in the use of blogs because social media is rapidly increasing in everyday life both socially and in the workplace. In marketing especially, social media is gaining extra importance and it seems to be involved one way or another in every assignment we carry out. I really enjoyed the fact that I was able to express myself in a module where my opinion was what mattered as their is no right or wrong answer.

I am delighted to have learned so much about blogging and also how to make a video presentation. Hopefully I can pursue social media marketing further down the line in my studies as I really enjoyed NTFM,

Apps are dead, Long live mobile.

I do not particularly agree with this statement as I am one of the many people within  the Irish population who own a smartphone and therefore I regularly depend on my Apps to get on sites like Facebook in a much faster and efficient way then using a search engine. They provide benefits to both businesses who provide apps for there consumers and also for the consumer as they both grow a closer relationship. It helps get a product to be more accessible for the consumer and also prevents the problems associated with getting stuck in spam folders. It also helps generate extra exposure for the product through mobiles and is also positive for repeat sales. I believe these are all positive points for businesses in a global economy that is currently on its knees so any help businesses and products get for extra exposure can only be positive. From a personal point of view I believe Apps. are a positive for me due to factors such as easy accesability and also things like notifications of events and launches which might have otherwise passed you by. I also find Apps are more personalized than finding a site on mobile web as it lets you change certain appliances to your benefit and also helps for schedules etc. I also believe it has the advantage of speed, as a mobile app. will only take seconds to open while mobile web on the other hand could take up to a few minutes if reception is poor.

I think blogging is a good method of expressing your opinions and interests to other bloggers. I think it is the most expressive and opinionated method of social media. It helps socialize online while letting users talk about matters of interest to them and expressive themselves on these matters in front of their followers. Although before I set up my wordpress account I had never previously blogged and had only expressed my opinions through social media on Facebook and Twitter. I have already found blogging to be a much different experience of social media and I hope I can use it to express my opinions and share my interests effectively.
